Update on the press release published October 6th, 2023:
On October 5 2023, members of the Eeyou Eenou Police Force along with the Chibougamau-Chapais Sûreté Du Québec carried out a search warrant on a vehicle.
Rebekah MACLEOD (34) and Nathan MIANSCUM (30) were arrested and charged for drug trafficking offences.
Under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, MACLEOD was charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and has been released by the courts with conditions (Release Order). MIANSCUM was also charged for Possession for Purpose of Trafficking with an additional charge of Traffic in Substance. He has been transferred to the Amos Detention Centre.
Both individuals are from Mistissini.
During this search, the police seized over 430 grams of white powdery substance suspected to be cocaine and cash money. The estimated street value of this seizure is over $50,000.
