FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Chisasibi, Qc – June 15, 2024 – Members of the Eeyou Eenou Police Force of the Chisasibi detachment were dispatched to a call on the morning of June 15th 2024 regarding an unresponsive person at the canoe landing by cluster G-1.
When arrived at the scene, a youth was suffering from what appeared to be stab wounds. The victim was immediately taken to the Chisasibi hospital where they were later pronounced deceased.
The Eeyou Eenou Police Force has arrested the suspect that is now facing murder charges. Their name cannot be revealed due to the protections listed in the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
The investigation has been turned over to the Sûreté du Québec’s Major Crimes Unit.
Eeyou Eenou Police Force is asking for witnesses to come forward with any information they may have that can help the investigation of this case.
