FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Chisasibi, Qc – June 19, 2024 – Members of the Eeyou Eenou Police Force of the Chisasibi detachment are issuing an update from the incident of June 15th 2024 that took place in Chisasibi.
Five (5) youths and one (1) adult are facing murder charges for their alleged involvement with a stabbing that claimed the life of a youth. Due to the protections listed in the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the names of the youth that are facing charges cannot be released.
Lennox Longchap (19) appeared in court and was charged with murder. The accused will be transferred to the Amos Detention Center and is being held until further decision by the prosecuting attorney.
The investigation is lead by the Sûreté du Québec’s Major Crimes Unit and the Eeyou Eenou Police Force are working in collaboration.
The EEPF continues to ask witnesses of this incident to come forward with any information that can help with this case.
