Waskaganish, Qc – January 28, 2025 – Members of the Eeyou Eenou Police Force of the Waskaganish detachment, along with patrol officers from the Sûreté du Québec, responded to a call received on Saturday January 25th, 2025 at 7:45 p.m. regarding two individuals who had been stabbed and a report of a possible gunshot.
Upon their arrival, they encountered a vehicle carrying two individuals in need of medical attention for stab wounds. The officers transported them to the clinic where they received the necessary treatment. A third person, who had sustained a gunshot wound, was also taken to the clinic. Fortunately, his injuries were non-life-threatening.
Due to the severity of the incident, the Sûreté du Québec Major Crimes Unit was contacted to take over the investigation. They arrived Sunday evening and immediately began their work, with additional team members arriving on Monday. The Sûreté du Québec, in collaboration with investigators from the Eeyou Eenou Police Force, interviewed numerous individuals. Late Monday evening, a 17-year-old was arrested on charges related to crimes against a person and firearm offenses connected to this event. The suspect is scheduled to appear in court via phone on Tuesday afternoon.
The Waskaganish detachment responded to another call that was received on Sunday January 26, 2025 at 12:05 a.m. reporting that four individuals had sustained gunshot wounds at a residence on Mississicabi street. All four victims were quickly transported to the local clinic where their injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening. The Sûreté du Québec Major Crimes Unit is currently investigating these incidents, although they are currently facing limited leads.
